The Association for Computing Machinery proudly honors Hal Berghel with the ACM Distinguished Lectureship Program Recognition of Lifetime Achievement.  This honor is in recognition of over ten years of service to the ACM Distinguished Lectureship Program.  This service includes being the very exemplar of a Distinguished Lecturer, the successful reorganization of the program when its very survival was at risk, his dedicated stewardship of the program during its renewed development period, and his continuing and passionate advocacy on behalf of the program.
